In 1987 Ross Ulmer opened the doors of Ulmer Cadillac, and today he is still involved in the business and the community.The UlmerAutoGroup eventually came to emcompass fifteen Dealerships and an RV franchise. Along the way Ross and the Dealership won the coveted National Dealer Laureate award (2007) which annually honors the top three Canadian Dealers of all brands, the provincial Dealer of Excellence Award (2012) and the Lloydminster Lifetime Achievement award (2016). Our Dealer Ross Ulmer, spent seven years as a Service Manager and knows how to build a service department where the customer COMES FIRST. While serving a thousand customers a month has its challenges – no other Dealership trains our advisory and technical staff more than Ulmer Chev. Our customer satisfaction depends on staff with skill as well as enthusiasm. We are proud to note that Lloydminster’s very first quick lube was opened by Ulmer Chev in 1992. We’ve always known that meeting customer needs results in long term success and not surprisingly, happy staff!

When you look at the Sunday papers or scan your internet feed it is obvious that the automotive industry is very competitive. Ulmer Chev received the Cadillac franchise in 2007. We are the smallest Canadian market that GM Canada has allowed to have a Cadillac franchise. In 1987, Ulmer Cadillac was the first regional Dealership to survey its customers (by phone of course back then!) after EVERY single service visit or vehicle purchase visit. We continue surveying (and responding) our customers to this day. In 1987, Ulmer Cadillac was one of the first Dealerships in Alberta/Saskatchewan to offer a 3 day money back, or 30 day used vehicle exchange guarantee or program. Ulmer Cadillac’s contributions to the community began in 1987 with the newly opening swimming pool concert, through involvement in every other major project (Lakeland College Expansion, Servus Sports Center) and continues with the Vic Juba Community Theatre Expansion project in 2020. Our first website was designed in 1997 (about four years after the internet became mainstream) by a local programmer in Lloydminster.
I’ve been a GM Dealer since 1987 and was a service manager from 1981 to 1987 (back when vehicles from all manufacturers made five or six warranty visits every year!). I’ve seen it all, and I truly believe that today’s Cadillac and Cadillac product quality is equal to or surpasses that of every other manufacturer I’ve represented. Plus they look GREAT! I know our customer’s new or used vehicle purchase represents a huge portion of their income. My Dealership’s mission has always been to provide a GREAT purchase experience (including the price) and more importantly, a GREAT warranty and maintenance service visit experience – because that results in repeat customers. Every staff member who joins our firm receives a copy of our mission statement – that mission statement’s most important sentence is this: “Our daily goal is to enjoy peace in our work family and provide service to our customers that will encourage them to be our lifelong friends,” I invite you – to become one of those lifelong friends!
